Friends of Waiakea Baseball will hold a car wash from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the KTA Super Stores-Puainako parking lot.

The event is a fundraiser for the Waiakea High School varsity team. Donations for the car wash will be accepted.

Hilo Little League sign-ups ongoing

Hilo Little League is registering players, managers and coaches interested in the junior, senior and big league divisions of baseball for ages 12-18 through March 15.

Players need medical forms and proofs of residency requirements, and manager and coach applications can be obtained by visiting www.hilolittleleague.com or calling 987-8469.

The deadline for managers and coaches is March 5, and late applicants will be placed on a wait list.

The Big Island Interscholastic Federation will hold a meeting for any individuals interested in officiating track and field at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Waiakea High library.

A coaches’ meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. March 6 at Honokaa High’s library.

Vern Ito made a hole-in-one Feb. 21 on the 151-yard No. 2 hole at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

John Moses and Reuben Soriano witnessed Ito’s first ace.

—Russell Paiva aced the 171-yard 16th hole Feb. 15 at Hilo Muni using a 5-iron.

Richard Ancheta, Virgil Inocencio and Alex Antonio witnessed Paiva’s third hole-in-one.
